Henri
(Ontario)
Dog Story:
Henri is a six year-old, black and white, neutered French Brittany. His father was a Canadian conformation champion and has a field title. Henri knows some commands...but only in French! Henri is very food motivated and loves treats and meal times. He loves chew toys but they should only be given with supervision as he tends to eat them up - including Kongs.
When Henri is in the house he is very calm. Although he sleeps on the chair, he does not get up on the bed. He is a typical, happy Brittany when allowed to run outside. He loves to play catch with sticks. The only problem is, when he gets the stick he doesn’t bring it back - he usually starts chewing on it. Henri loves getting his back scratched and is starting to seek scratches and attention. He can be fairly vocal when playing and can also be a little mouthy. I believe Henri is very affectionate as he is starting to lay his head on my leg and on the bed when he wants to be held. He also travels very well in the car. Henri is housetrained, up-to-date on vaccinations, and is microchipped.
If you think Henri would be a great addition to your family, please complete the online adoption application and mention Henri in Ontario!
History:
Henri came to ABR because his owners contacted a local shelter first but the shelter was completely full so Henri was going to be put down. Although his owners indicated that he had been growling at their toddler, he has never shown any aggression towards anyone. In fact, he is happiest when meeting strangers. Henri will only be adopted to a home with older children.

Brittanys usually live 12-15 years, so if you are contemplating adoption, please be prepared to make that kind of commitment to the dog. Brittanys love their people and require personal attention every day.
Dogs placed by American Brittany Rescue, Inc. have been rescued from a shelter, found as a stray, or given up by an owner who could no longer keep or care for them. All dogs in foster homes have been (or will be) spayed or neutered, checked for heartworm, and are usually on preventative medication for heartworm. A dog's foster family can give you valuable information about its personality and temperament.
There are many more Brittany's available but not yet listed on the web site. These pages are always changing as homes are found and new dogs are placed into rescue. Please contact the State Coordinator for more information.
If you know of a Brittany who needs a home, please contact your nearest State Coordinator for assistance.
